I am always amused when someone has such passion about one or another politician. It implies that they actually think that the others are in some way better, which is, of course, absurd. ;)
As for the last election, when you consider that the choices were "Dubya", "Kerry Pretending to be Dubya", "the anonymous Libertarian sacrifical candidate" and "whatever politician the Greens could find that least resembled Nader", it's hard to see how not electing Dubya would have been an improvement - a scary thought, admittedly. As much as I look forward to being rid of Mr Cheney's sock puppet, I can't see the reasoning that the opposition is better just because they are opposed - not that the Dims are doing much opposing these days, being too busy falling all over themselves saying "AOL!" to everything in the Re-patrician platform that looks even vaguely popular.
Political discourse in the US has contracted to a very small range of minutely differing opinions, with anything even vaguely mindful being dismissed as radical or cranky. Debate in Congress has been reduced to the moral equivalent of arguing over which shade of off-white to paint a burning house.
